My organization I Am Active has teamed up with the movie Unconditional to provide non profit organizations a platform for getting the word out and to provide movie goers a way to plug in and ACT. I’m honored by this opportunity and excited to see the activism platform we have built used to serve so many people.
I got the opportunity to see a prescreening of the film Unconditional tonight. I had the privilege to work on this movie and be on set every day of production. I have continued to be involved with this project working on the marketing and community aspects. It was a real joy to see something you have been so intimately involved with play before an audience and do well. I am pleased with the final result and very happy to be attached with this project. It’s going to be exciting to see how this film does when it hits theaters in September!
This week is full of sales in the U.S. for chips, soda and household appliances as Americans prepare for the Super Bowl. But other less advertised—and far less innocent—sales are also beginning.
Human lives are for sale at the Super Bowl.
The Super Bowl has been called the largest sex-trafficking event in the United States. Women, men, boys and girls are all sold on the underground for the sexual pleasure of fans caught up in football mania, parties and alcohol. Thousands of girls will be brought into Indianapolis for this single event.
Do you dream about traveling or backpacking through the world and meeting people from different walks of life? Well now you can get closer to that experience with Wander, a free iPhone app that connects penpals with Instagram.
Through photo-based conversation threads, Wander allows users to view and participate in the lives of foreign peers in different parts of the world while also sharing their own lives and surroundings. The one-to-one media-sharing makes the world smaller by connecting strangers on opposite sides of the world through cultural exchanges.
Every Monday, the peeps of I Am Active collect a few of our favorite, recently launched initiatives to share with the you all. You can check out our choices this week, below, but make sure to stop by our web page to find even more. So many good initiatives!
Hi friends. Today I found out some very sad news. My good friends Jenni & Charlie Frasure lost one of their babies today. “Andrew Douglas frasure died last night now we are trying to keep Benjamin Tyler in.” Jenni is pregnant with twins and was due to deliver in a few weeks.
One year ago a young photographer from Guatemala went to the border of Nicaragua and Costa Rica to find out if child prostitution was going on there. He ended up meeting a 17 year old boy who had been in prostitution since he was 12 years old. This experience sparked a passion in him to start a documentary project that would expose the reality of human trafficking and prostitution in Central America, as well as bring hope for an escape from this injustice that so many are trapped in.
The best ways people can help are through financial support and prayer. We are attempting to build 4 homes for people that literally live in shacks and are down and out in terms of their living situation. Each house costs roughly around $10,000. Our prayer is to build these homes in 4 days but we needs all the building supplies.
Help our friends at Got Your Back this Christmas, by giving a gift that will change a life. With every t-shirt sold by Got Your Back, a school uniform will be provided to a child in need. Visit gybmovement.org for more information.
